​Jonceal Vanderford Kennedy died Monday, May 17, 1993, at Harris HEB Hospital in Bedford, Texas. She was 45. Jonceal was working at the Richland Hills Church of Christ as Rick Atchley’s secretary at the time of her death. She had just finished typing and editing Rick’s latest book, Sinai Summit: Meeting God with Our Character Crisis and was in charge of the weekly church bulletin.
 
Jonceal was born August 22, 1947, in Corinth. Mississippi. She and her mom lived alone from shortly after her birth until her marriage at age 20.
 
She and her husband worked together most of their married life in churches and Christian schools. She was also a dedicated housewife and mother.
 
Jonceal is survived by her husband of 25 years, Brooks Kennedy; her two sons, Darin Kennedy and wife Kimberly of Abilene, Texas, and Derek Kennedy of Bedford, Texas; her mother, Vernon (Polly) Lambert Vanderford Curtis of Corinth, Mississippi, and her sister Carol Vanderford of Oklahoma City.
 
She was preceded in death by her dad John Hubert Vanderford and her uncle with whom she lived during college Johnny Vanderford.
 
Her funeral services will be held Wednesday, May 19, at the Richland Hills Church of Christ with burial at Moore Cemetery in Arlington.
